Drill String Design
Drill string design process is placed in context with other planning and operational considerations of well planning. It refreshes hidden physics of drill string failures and mechanical properties of drill string materials. It clarifies the performance properties of drill string components and explains how to apply design margins. Designing explains the cost effectiveness of bottom hole assembly and matching it with suitable bit. In the design process, analysis is done for tension loads, torque loads, combined tension-torque loads, fatigue loads, buckling loads etc. in load cases for approximately vertical/high angle conditions. Explains cause of torque and drag including wear and tear of casing and find out tools to reduce torque and drag including wear and tear of casing. Detect over potential vibration and its control to save the string from failure. Frame inspection program as per updated standard of the industry.
